About This Car
Directional headlights, self-levelling hydropneumatics and Pallas luxury: the DS 21 turns distance into calm—space-age ride quality with quietly sophisticated pace. By 1968 the DS had matured into its definitive form. The DS 21 used a 2,175 cc four with about 115HP (86KW) DIN and—crucially—the facelifted nose with four headlights under glass, two of which swivel with the steering to light the inside of bends. The ride and braking remained a class apart thanks to hydropneumatic self-levelling suspension and disc brakes. Pallas was the luxury specification: extra sound-insulation, richer trim and chrome detailing that elevated the already avant-garde DS into a true grand-touring saloon.
